A Shift in Health Care

Uncategorized Dec 11, 2025

Welcome to Accelerated Method Academy news on our shifting health care system.  Today we will look at what is changing in our current mainstream healthcare system.

It is no secret that we are facing a crisis in our health care system. Mainstream health care is quickly becoming unattainable for most. Insurance cost is fast approaching an unaffordable high. According to reports, collectively individuals have paid billions of dollars annually out of pocket seeking complementary and integrative means to help reduce their pain and suffering.

Science and the health care industry are now giving more attention to finding ways to effectively address the widespread problems of our current health care system. This includes being more open to researching complementary and integrative medicine and therapies, including metaphysical treatments such as Spiritual Healing. In this article, we will give a brief look at the beginnings of Spiritual Healing and how it is evolving back into mainstream health care acceptance.

Spiritual Healing has been practiced since the dawn of humanity. History reports that spiritual healing has been around since the earliest of times. Studies of ancient societies show that humans gathered in small groups and individuals were identified by specific functions that they were known to do. The individuals who were the healers were known as the “shamans” or medicine men and medicine women. Even at the earliest of times, there was a recognition of spirit within the body. The medicine men/women or “shamans” were highly respected and considered to be the wise ones.

Linda Smith, in her book, Called into Healing, goes on to tell that the medicine men and medicine women of the earliest societies performed many roles, including being the healer, priest or priestess, counselor, the solver of great mysteries, and interpreter of natural disasters. However, if they could find no meaning or had no explanation, then the “shaman” or medicine man/woman would attribute the incident to the work of the devil or demons.

Some of the medicine men and women were specialists. In her book, Woman as Healer, Jeanne Acterburg describes how some of the healers specialized in highly developed healing arts including medicinal and surgery.

According to the article “The Evolution of Ancient Healing Practices,” written by Chukwuka Elendu, MD, “Ancient civilizations developed their medical systems parallel to shamanic healing, often intertwined with religious beliefs and practices.” These practices have long been a part of human societies and have played a vital role in health and wellness long before the coming of modern medicine. Dr. Elendu continues to inform us that the transmission of this knowledge and the exchanging and disseminating of these medical and healing practices occurred mainly during trade routes in ancient times. Along these trade routes, merchants, travelers, and scholars exchanged silk, spices, precious metals, medical knowledge, herbal remedies, and spiritual healing practices. According to Dr. Elendu these early medical practices encompassed various therapeutic modalities, including herbal remedies, surgical procedures, and spiritual healing rituals. It is noted by many that modalities that have their origin in ancient spiritual healing practices and have been passed down to modern society offer valuable tools for managing pain, reducing stress, promoting healing and overall health and wellness.

Spiritual healing practices have evolved over time, and they continue to influence modern-day healing practices. Spiritual healing has taken many forms throughout the course of history with different cultures and civilizations developing their own unique approach to healing. In the Western World, spiritual healing has been influenced mostly by the ancient practices of Egypt, Greece, India, and China.  Although, there are many practices and approaches aligned with spiritual healing, these societies are noted to emphasize the spiritual healing practices of energy healing, prayer and meditation.

Spiritual healing has been a part of human history for centuries. It has been efficient in helping to alleviate pain, suffering and has been utilized in promoting healing and wellness in ancient times and throughout millennia. Spiritual healing continues to evolve and expand with new techniques, and practices as it is still efficacious in helping to alleviate pain and suffering, and in helping to facilitate the healing process today.

This very brief review of spiritual healing is intended to set a background for how spiritual healing in general came to be utilized as an approach to complement mainstream medicine.
